Eagle Knife Company

Post by New_Windsor_NY »

Got this single blade folder from the Eagle Knife Company yesterday. It fits in well with my other simple, all metal knives. :D
The tang stamp reads:

EAGLE KNIFE CO
PAT.OCT.1.18
MADE IN USA

Nice one! Goins says 1916 - 1919. Levine's Guide (4th) adds they were sold to Winchester in 1919 and they were made in New Haven, CT.

Thank you for the info Dennis. I really do like these single blade, all metal pocket knives. Such a simple design and still around after 100 years. I can't find enough of this style or the Geo Schrade wire handle folders. But it is fun hunting them down. Here are a few of the type that I have hunted down. :D ::tu::

Great collection that has given me a new respect for simple, metal handled knives. I have a few wire frame and metal handled but I've always thought they were kind of boring but seeing your variety is changing my mind.

Which company/companies made the Girl Scout and Boy Scout models?

Any idea if you have all the colors they made of the wire frame inserts? In your photos I see red (two shades), green, yellow, metallic, and maybe white (or is that one also metallic?). Wonder if they ever made a blue one?

These are the manufacturers that I've found, so far. Always looking for a different manufacturer.

As far as the inserts on the wire handled knives, I don't know if I have all the colors. Red, green & metal colors seem to be the norm. I don't know if the metal colored ones were made that way or if the paint just wore off. I can't see/find any trace of paint on either one. I got lucky finding the yellow one. Again, always looking for variations.

Thank you doglegg. ::handshake::

I just obtained this single blade jack knife, tang stamped EAGLE KNIFE CO. It is a "cousin" of the ALLEN CUTLERY COMPANY, NEWBURGH, N.Y. Estimated time of arrival, sometime next week. I'll give it the once over and I'll post MY pictures in the appropriate location(s). These pictures are the seller's.

This EAGLE KNIFE COMPANY, single blade pocket knife, found a new home today. I gave it a gentle once over, nothing major. It is a "cousin" of GEO. SCHRADE Knife Co. (non-wire handle), and a "cousin" of the ALLEN CUTLERY COMPANY. It measures 2 7/8" closed. The EAGLE KNIFE COMPANY knife in the first post, on the top of this page, measures just a hair over 3 1/4" closed. These pictures are mine.

Here’s a couple pics of the Eagle I just found. Any idea of the age of this one? I saw 1916 in an earlier thread.

I am by no means an expert on knives. But your tang stamp says EAGLE CUTLERY CO, not EAGLE KNIFE CO. I don't know if that means anything. ::shrug:: There are some other EAGLE KNIFE CO knives and tang stamps on this page.

I'm going to bring this topic up to date as there will soon be an addition or additions to my collection. These are the three EAGLE KNIFE COMPANY (1916-1919) pocket knives that I currently have. All three are single blade. All three have different tang stamps.

Today I've added these two pocket knives from EAGLE KNIFE CO. (1916-1919) to my collection. They are each a "cousin" of the ALLEN CUTLERY COMPANY, NEWBURGH, N.Y. and the GEO. SCHRADE KNIFE CO., INC. The first one is a single blade pocket knife. The second one is a single blade, 1 tool, "SCOUT KNIFE" pocket knife. Both pocket knives needed a little cleaning. I cleaned them, took some pictures and here they are.

Arriving very recently, I added this pocket knife from EAGLE KNIFE COMPANY (1916-1919), to this topic or thread and to my collection. It is a "cousin" of the ALLEN CUTLERY COMPANY, NEWBURGH, N.Y., the GEO. SCHRADE KNIFE CO., INC. and other cutlery companies that manufactured pocket knives of a similar, simple construction. It is a single blade, 2 7/8" closed, all metal pocket knife. This is my eighth pocket knife manufactured by EAGLE KNIFE COMPANY. The other seven have all been previously posted under this topic or thread and elsewhere. I gave it a minor cleaning, took some pictures and here it is.
Caption(s), if any, are on the BOTTOM of the corresponding picture(s).

Sweet! I like the simplicity of the Eagle design.
I have a couple of the Imperial Boy Scout knives and forks that are made after a similar design. It is neat to get such a firm snap on a knife with no backspring.
