Coca Cola Cutlery.

Post by New_Windsor_NY »

Do you collect Coca Cola knives? Do you have a Coca Cola knife or knives in your collection? Post it or them here. It doesn't matter what time period it came from. It doesn't matter what company made it. It doesn't matter what the country of origin is. But PLEASE, ONLY Coca Cola pocket or fixed blade knives. So, what do you have?

I'll start with mine. This was easy because it's the only Coca Cola knife that I have. In fact, it just arrived this morning. It is a, 1915-1920, A. KASTOR & BROS - NEW YORK, bone handles, single blade, 1 tool, Coca Cola pocket knife. It has, what I thought was, a bottle opener/cap lifter. Goins says it's a wire cutter. It has two tang stamps. It measures 3 3/8" closed, 5 5/8" with blade open and 7" with blade and wire cutter open. Overall, it's in nice condition and I'm quite pleased with it.

I do enjoy that tasty beverage. I snatched up a nice pre-1947 sterling silver 2-7/8" Schrade Cut Co senator mainly for the knife itself but I love the Coca Cola branding as well.

I clean my knives if/when I think they need it. The before and after pics of this one are very different indeed.

I'm totally with you on the "cleaning issue". Great job cleaning that one, what a remarkable improvement! ::tu:: ::tu::

Thank you joeradza. I've always been a bit curious about the style of knife that you're posting. I've been tempted a few times to get one, just so I could say that I have one. I have enough "distractions" already. Gorgeous Coca Cola knife! ::tu:: I wonder if there is a wire handle, blade etched, Coca Cola knife out there. ::shrug::

I've noticed that many people don't like advertising knives. I don't actively pursue them but if they're a pattern I enjoy and they pop my cork, I'll pick them up (as long as they are reasonable).

I'm the same way Jerry, I only have three in my collection. The one I posted on this thread, A single blade that looks like a BP gas pump (given to me) and a fob knife that was made in Germany specifically for a 1940's General Store here in Texas.

A NOS Coca-Cola round knife. I doubt (?) it’s MOP but it still looks good.

This morning I'm adding this knife, my second one of these, to my collection. It's a 1915-1920, A. KASTOR & BROS - NEW YORK, bone handles, single blade, 1 tool, Coca Cola pocket knife with bottle opener/cap lifter. Goins says it's a wire cutter. It has two tang stamps. A KASTOR (over) & BROS (over) NEW YORK and on the other side, COCA COLA (over) BOTTLING CO. The graphics are still very legible. I cleaned the blade, the tool and wiped off the handles. I took some pictures and here it is.

Thanks Skip. I still don't see it as a wire cutter, but then I've miss things before.

I think it was meant to be used on wire, like the type used to hold a champagne cork in. There are "ridges" inside the curve of each tool. Maybe the point on the tool was used to help remove the foil on a bottle of champagne. I don't believe the tool was supposed to actually cut anything, but more like stretch and break. I should see if it can open a bottle like a normal bottle opener/cap lifter.
Who knows........ ::shrug::

Ok, I conducted an "experiment" and here are the results. Yes, the tool on my "KASTOR" Coca Cola knives is called a "wire cutter" according to Goins. BUT it does work, very well, as a bottle opener/cap lifter. It also puts holes, actually more like long slits, quite easily in the lid of a can. So call it what you want. ::shrug::
