Here are a couple of unimportant items regarding these "W & H" fob/key ring, advertising pocket knives.
Item #1.
Here are, in alphabetical order, the states that are represented by most,
but not all, of the advertising on these pocket knives (as of this posting).
Also, there is one advertised foreign country (as of this posting).
These are the pocket knives that ONLY have the "W & H" tang stamp(s).

1. Illinois
2. Indiana
3. Massachusetts
4. Michigan
5. New Jersey
6. New York
7. Ohio
8. Pennsylvania
9. West Virginia
10. Montreal, Canada

Item #2.
NOT ONE pocket knife posted under this topic or thread
has a telephone number advertised anywhere on it (so far).
Yes, telephone service was available for businesses and for residences at this time.

This pocket knife arrived this morning. It's a nice addition to my collection and also to this topic/thread. It's a "THE W & H Co. - NEWARK NJ", "PROMETHEUS-GRUPPE", single blade, single tool (a button hook), 2 tang stamps, 2 1/8" closed pocket knife. On the main side, it features an image of PROMETHEUS and says "PROMETHEUS-GRUPPE" - "PROF E MÜLLER" I'm pretty sure about the PROF E, but I'm positive about MÜLLER in that second line. Professor Eduard Müller was a sculptor (google him). On the other side, it features the head shots of two women. This is only my second example of this pattern/style of pocket knife that has a "W & H" tang stamp. This pocket knife has two of the "block" style tang stamps. So far, it is the third style (the oldest I believe) and the least common of the tang stamps for the "W & H" pocket knives that I've found. So, which cutlery company manufactured this style of pocket knife for the "W & H" company? I have no idea, but the investigation continues moving forward. However, from what I've seen/found so far, Whitehead & Hoag items with female and more specifically, "risqué" images, are not too common. I took some pictures and here it is.

This afternoon, this pocket knife became the most recent addition to my collection and to this topic/thread. Pictured below is another L.F. & C. - U.S.A. (LANDERS, FRARY & CLARK), 2 blade, 1 tang stamp, 3 1/8" closed pocket knife. Both sides of the handle have an ad for "THE TRAVELERS INSURANCE COMPANY - HARTFORD. CONN.-- TICKET DEPARTMENT."
This is the sixth pocket knife of this style/pattern that I've obtained and it is the second one with a L.F. & C. tang stamp. The tang stamp is the "block style." L.F. & C. is one of the cutlery companies that is involved with Whitehead & Hoag. The other five pocket knives of this particular style/pattern have all been previously posted throughout this topic/thread. It required very little cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

This afternoon I added this, "THE W & H CO - USA - NEWARK NJ", single blade, 2 7/32" closed, all metal, fob/key ring pocket knife to my collection. This is my second fob/key ring pocket knife advertising this particular company. The main side says "NATIONAL ARMATURE & ELEC. WKS. - BLUEFIELD, W. VA." and the other side says "MANUFACTURERS - ARMATURE COILS-FIELD COILS." It needed a little cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

My purpose for starting this topic/thread, was to try and determine which cutlery companies made or had a hand in the manufacturing of pocket knives for the Whitehead & Hoag Company. This afternoon, I added this pocket knife to my collection and to this topic/thread. It is a VALLEY FORGE, double blade with cap lifter/bottle opener, 3 tang stamps,
3 7/16" closed, all metal pocket knife. There is NO ADVERTISING on this knife at all. The main blade tang stamp reads VALLEY FORGE - CUTLERY CO. - NEWARK N.J. The tang stamps on the secondary blade with opener say VALLEY FORGE - CUTLERY CO. on one side and on the other side it says PATENTED - MAY 18, 1909. So, did the VALLEY FORGE CUTLERY COMPANY have a hand in the manufacturing process or actually manufacture any of pocket knives for the Whitehead & Hoag Company? And if they did, were they involved before, during, or after H. BOKER & Co. bought the VALLEY FORGE CUTLERY COMPANY in 1899? I DO NOT have any hard evidence yet. What I do have so far, is an ad from a 1912 Whitehead & Hoag catalog (very last picture) that features a pocket knife that is ALMOST IDENTICAL, I emphasize ALMOST, to the posted VALLEY FORGE pocket knife. Identical as far as the handle shapes and the blade(s) with tool are concerned. Obviously the handle design(s) and the tang stamps are different. What I need to find and obtain now, is the same pattern/style of pocket knife, but with ANY Whitehead & Hoag (W & H) tang stamp. Finding and obtaining a same pattern/style of pocket knife, but with a H. BOKER tang stamp would also be VERY acceptable. I would consider these to be good, hard pieces of evidence that would connect H. BOKER and VALLEY FORGE to Whitehead & Hoag. This pocket knife required very little cleaning, but the secondary blade & tool has a couple of visible issues. I took some pictures and here it is. The very last picture is of the 1912 Whitehead & Hoag catalog ad.
The investigation and hunt continues.....
Caption(s), if any, are on the BOTTOM of the corresponding pictures.
Click on a picture to ENLARGE.

So, as of and including this posting, here are the cutlery companies that I believe manufactured or at least had a hand in the manufacturing process of the pocket knives for Whitehead & Hoag. The evidence is posted throughout this topic/thread. Are there more? Yes, I do believe that there are other cutlery companies involved.

BOKER U.S.A. - No Hard Evidence (So Far).
ROBESON - Involved.
MERIDEN - Slight Chance Of Involvement.
L.F. & C. - Involved.
VALLEY FORGE - No Hard Evidence (So Far).

I am posting the following pocket knife for posterity and for future reference.
This is NOT my pocket knife. These are the seller's pictures and they have only
been edited for size. The description is an edited version of the seller's description.

It is a The W & H Co., 2 blade, 3 3/8" closed, advertising pocket knife . This knife is used but in good condition there is staining on blades. The knife blades still have a good snap. The knife has advertising on two sides of knife. The advertising on knife reads The baby digger with a picture of some type of digging machine. The other side of knife reads The Cleveland Trenching Co. 20100 St. Clair Avenue Euclid, Ohio Cleveland Suburb. The two blades are marked The W & H Co. Newark New Jersey.

This pocket knife DID NOT escape me. This afternoon, it became the most recent addition to my collection and to this topic/thread. It is a "THE W & H CO - NEWARK, N.J.", 2 blade, single spring, 3 1/8" closed, 2 tang stamps pocket knife. It says "SEATTLE PLUMBING SUPPLY CO." on both sides. The two tang stamps on this particular pocket knife are the curved/arched lettering tang stamps, without USA in the centers. This is the seventh pocket knife of this pattern or style that I've obtained. It is the first pocket knife of this pattern or style that advertises this particular company/business. It is only the second pocket knife of this pattern or style with "THE W & H CO - NEWARK, N.J. tang stamps (the other one has a broken secondary blade). It is only the second pocket knife of this pattern or style that DOES NOT advertise "The Travelers Insurance Company." The other six pocket knives of this particular pattern or style have all been previously posted throughout this topic/thread. There is a VERY GOOD chance that this pocket knife was manufactured by one or more of the following cutlery companies: MERIDEN, L.F. & C. (Landers, Frary & Clark) or ROBESON. It required some cleaning.
I took some pictures and here it is.

WOW! A different "W & H" pattern or style pocket knife. Another clue.....

The following is the EXACT description of this pocket knife, it is NOT mine. There was NO author listed to credit.
"TEC pen knife supplied by The W & H Co. to Technical Supply Co.
Equal end pen knife, 3-1/8 inches long closed. Coined metal handles, nickel silver -- possibly silver-plated.
Blades tang stamped THE W. & H. CO. / NEWARK, N.J. and THE W. & H. CO. - The Whitehead & Hoag Company, Newark, New Jersey. Benjamin Whitehead and Chester Hoag became partners in 1892. Their company sold all types of advertising, promotional, society, union, and political items. Their specialty was printing in color on celluloid, which they did in their own large factory. They held many patents related to this process, including the original pinback badge patent. The W. & H. Company also sold private brand products made for it by other firms, notably advertising, souvenir, commemorative, and presentation pocket knives. Most of The W. & H. Co. marked knives that I have seen were made by H. Boker & Co., also then of Newark NJ, later of Maplewood NJ. The Whitehead & Hoag Company endured until 1959, but its heyday was prior to World War I. This knife most likely dates from the period c1906-1907. Its original owner, M. P. Hench, was the superintendent of the Technical Supply Company factory in Scranton, Pennsylvania."

.....and the quest continues!

Re: THE W & H CO + USA + NEWARK NJ = Whitehead & Hoag.

This pocket knife also did NOT escape me. This afternoon, it became the latest addition to my collection and also to this topic/thread. It is a "THE W & H CO - NEWARK, N.J.", 2 blade, single spring, 3 5/16" closed, 2 tang stamps pocket knife. It says "EX-LAX - GIVES THE DRUGGIST A LIVING PROFIT" on one side. The other side says "EX-LAX - A FRIEND IN NEED." The two tang stamps on this particular pocket knife are the curved/arched tang stamps. There is NO "USA" in the middle of either tang stamp. This is the second pocket knife in this pattern or style that I've obtained. It is the first pocket knife advertising this particular product. This pocket knife needed cleaning. I cleaned it, took some pictures and here it is.
Captions, if any, are on the BOTTOM of the corresponding picture(s).

Thank you Smitty.🍻
I was hoping that eventually, I would find another "W & H", EX-LAX pocket knife.
What I didn't expect, was to find another one so quickly (the next day). ::tu::
