I have one. A big old WALTCO. I had it at a show once and a priest came up and was twirling it like a majorette. He explained that he was stationed in the Philippine Islands for 5 years and didn't have much to do in his spare time. It was scary. I can't even begin handle one. J.O'.

Couple nice ones LT ::tu::

I like the size of the larger one.

Here's one from the Philippines that when closed looks like a pen that can clip into your shirt pocket.

It was suggested I post my Hemming Woodsman here, and I thought I'd add a few other old hunting/outdoors butterfly knives.
This one has solid aluminum handles, painted black. I think these started production around 1910.

The top knife is 1950s production, while the bottom one is from around 1949 and has celluloid handle scales. The earlier one is unmarked.

Two Finnish Hackman butterfly knives with solid nylon handles. The black one has a more pronounced clip point blade. These are early production ones (ca. late 1960s IIRC) with the rather small text inside the logo. Later ones had larger, more legible text with the logo next to it.

I know nothing about this one, except the blade is probably stainless.

I'm not a bali fan John, even though I currently have a $20. cheapo on the way just so I have one in my collection, but I must say that your knife is without a doubt the nicest balisong knife I've ever laid eyes on! And, it has a spear-point blade instead of the usual clip-point ta boot! Beautiful knife bud! 8)

I forgot to add another interesting butterfly knife in my collection. This is a Böntgen & Sabin of Solingen (better, latter known as "Bonsa") penknife from the 1880s-1920s.
In the fully open position, carbon steel blade, nickel silver bolsters and liners, and ivory scales. This is a tiny knife.

Closed. Everything fits flush.

One tang stamp reads "Made" and below "Germany"

Reverse tang stamp reads "Bontgen &" with Sabin obscured by wear and patina.

Interestingly, because the latch fits flush in both the opening and closing position, it has a nail nick on the side to ease manipulation. If anyone has one of the larger Bonsa butterflys, I'd love to see it.
