A Couple of Little Treasures From the Berlin, MD Show
A Couple of Little Treasures From the Berlin, MD Show
I stopped in last Saturday at the inaugural Berlin Md (near Ocean City) knife show that J.O. (Ridgegrass) did a wonderful job of organizing. It was at the Windmill Vineyard and Winery ( a great setting) and was a small, but fun event. Anyway, the owner of the winery is a knife collector, but couldn't be there because he was picking up a truckload of grapes. His daughter, Brittany had his great collection (or at least a good part of it) on display, but, unfortunately, they weren't for sale. But, there were 3 small buckets of knives on the table labeled $10, $5 and $2. Naturally, I had to root through them, and this Remington toothpick called out to me. As you can see, the celluloid scales were in pretty bad shape, and the layer of rust I found underneath was even worse. But, at trip to the wire wheel and all was good. I thought Gabon ebony (which I have a lot of, but that is another story for another day) would look good on it, together with a bowtie shield from my parts bin, and here it is. The last picture is a Syracuse jack that also called out to me, but from the $5 bucket. Still trying to decide trying to decide on what kind of new clothes to dress it in, but the knife will let me know sooner or later. I had a great time chewing the fat with J.O. and the other vendors and hope this event will continue and grow larger in the future!

Nice save of the toothpick, Herb. Great choices for the scale material and shield.
The Syracuse looks very pocket friendly.

Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!
