Camillus Air Service Knife
I picked up this Camillus 3 blade a couple of weeks ago at a local antique shop for $3. The black composition handles were beyond hope from shrinkage and pieces missing. The rest of the knife looks good, blades are full and looks like it hasn't been used much. I had recently gotten some bone in assorted colors from Culpepper, so just to decide on a color. I went with the Richmond Amber jigged bone. Since this knife is all steel, steel bolsters, liners, and pins, I ended up using some .084" coat hanger wire for pins. While the metal seemed to be soft enough, I had a heck of a time trying to get the coat hanger pins to disappear into the steel bolsters. As you can see, I was not entirely successful, despite hammering and hammering on them. Oh well, it is an EDC anyway. I sure do like that Richmond Amber color.

Very nice! That’s one of my favorite patterns. As a matter of fact I packed a 4 line Camillus all done up in Catalina amber bone (with an added bail) today! You’ve got a winner there.

That was a good choice on that bone. Some bone patterns just fit right on a knife, and others don't. This one looks just right!
