Western Barlow #822

Post by Jeffinn »

I had some broken bone slabs from a previous project that I decided to utilize for this Western Barlow. It was called a crows foot pattern and they were amber colored (amber has become my favorite color lately!).
One slab was cracked in half and both had holes drilled in them so I had to work around those obstacles. Luckily a barlow is fairly small so I could still fit them onto the used slabs;

The blades were in good shape and the knife was pretty solid so it went together without a hitch.
Here’s the original knife;

Thanks!
I finally have a little time to get down to the workshop.
We helped our handicapped daughter buy a condominium. Of course once we bought it there were some renovations needed. Two coats of primer on every wall and ceiling followed by two coats of paint, install new baseboard moldings throughout, fix a few plumbing issues, move some appliances, install some handrails etc. After 8 weeks or so it’s just about done. My daughter moved in and all that’s left are some misc. items.
So that means I can get back to what I enjoy, modding/upgrading knives. My arthritis limits me a bit but I’ve been spending a lot of time downstairs working on knives.
Got plenty of bone slabs and 12-15 knives in the project box so I’ll stay busy for awhile!

Again, incredible job redoing knives. Good on ya mate ::handshake:: .
People buy his knives! You won't get better work anywhere, and I haven't even held one in the real (yet). :D

I like the way you smoothed the edges of the bone so the color shows better. Great job and very pretty knife. ::nod::
