Buck 119 redo
Buck 119 redo
This 119 was rode hard and put away wet when I got it. Tipped blade, grinder sharpened, the handle was gouged & scratched.
I reprofiled the blade, ground off the top of the hand guard and am in the process of reshaping the handle to fit my hand perfectly. It fits great in a Kabar MK1 sheath.

It looks nice! I wouldn't know anything had been done to the tip.
Got any "before" pictures?

Thanks all! Doc, I don't have any before pics. I didn't think to take them until after I was almost done.

Re: Buck 119 redo
Good job! I think that it is actually a better knife now. That 'trailing point' stuff is not so hot. I did the same thing that you did on a Buck 102 back in about 1980; it was a great work knife (and still is).
Re: Buck 119 redo
Very nice work and a nice save. I would take that one hunting with me any time!

My opinion is you've made a nice improvement to that knife. I like it !

Re: Buck 119 redo
I'm impressed! I have a beat up 119 around here somewhere, and when I run across it I'll try to duplicate your great idea.
Re: Buck 119 redo
Appreciate the positive input all. I'm with Tongueriver. For me the knife is much more useable. I've been carrying it for a few days and find it a lot handier that the original swept up blade.
I call it the shark. It looks like it wants to poke something.
