Schrade 194OT with Brown Burlap Micarta Handles

Post by Jeffinn »

This knife was in pretty good shape when I purchased it so I just cleaned it up a bit and put some new micarta handles on it. The blade is in "as found" condition and hasnt been cleaned or polished by me.
It turned out pretty nice!

Jeff you do great work. How do you get or what tool do you use to get the rounded ends on the pins?

Thanks David.
All of my pins are peened with a small hammer. By lightly tapping around the edges of the pins it creates a domed top (along with tapping the center of the pin). Once peened a quick trip to the polishing wheel smooths out the rough spots and leaves the polished dome.
I’ve tried a couple of different pin spinners but was never happy with the results. So hand peening is what I do.

Those handles on that knife are far better matched to the knife than the originals. Great job on that!
