Fully modded Chi-Schrade experiment

Post by Reverand »

Last week I started playing around with this Chinese Schrade trapper that I bought a couple of years ago (before I knew how to tell the difference between a 'new' Schrade and a real Schrade!). It was an ugly knife that was missing an odd-shaped Christmas-stocking shield anyway.
Inspired by Lansky1's Wharncliff mods, I reshaped the spey blade.

Then during the week my Dad mentioned to me that he had sawn up some burl Walnut pieces that I could use for knives. After looking at what he had given me, I knew that the green bone on this knife had to GO!
I removed the clip blade did my first attempt at filework. I managed to crack the pile-side handle, but it is epoxied as well as pinned, so it isn't going anywhere. All in all, it was a fun experiment and I am pleased enough with the results. I hope to do more mods like this on better knives in the future!
