GEC Abalone Looking Glass

Post by knifeswapper »

Has anyone seen these natural abalone / acrylic veneer slabs? GEC calls them "Looking Glass" because you can see thru them from the side. They are natural material sandwiched by acrylic allowing for easier working and much more economical final product....

LVS (stacked veneer) Abalone / Paua has been the material everyone has been using for some time; but that is still $275+ for a 5.5"x9.5" sheet. These lower the price significantly by only requiring one layer of the shell per application.

Does that mean that the pin posts are visible as well?

Eric

PS- at least there's not a danger of chipping or cracking the shell handle if you drop the knife.

Well I saw the material 6-8 months ago and had talked to some about it; so I guess I am psychic

Masecraft has had it for some time. So why not just let the rest speak for themselves. ::tu::

Yes, they are like the past Looking Glass models. They will be much more durable and economical but with a little less realistic look.
