A Cloudless Blue Sky and the Spitfires are overhead

As I type the roar of Spitfire engines from Spitfires flying once again out of Biggin Hill is filling the air. At price you can fly in one but for us underneath it's a reminder of the epic events which took place here in Kent. That's by way of an introduction to our location. Several of our knife makers passed away last year but we have recreated one of Trevor Ablett's more distinctive pocket knives. This one is a sheepsfoot rosewood handle with square brass bolsters. It has a carbon steel blade and because we do not have the jigs it's entirely handmade.

I would so love to hear the iconic hollow growl of a Rolls Royce engine of a Spitfire overhead ... I envy you having that experience. Although that sound may not be as pleasant to those who heard it firsthand some 73 years ago ...

I like your knife design - very unusual. Any chance you could post a picture of the blade ?

I bet the sound of those spitfires sounded pretty good to the Britts and pretty bad to the Germans. That would be a privilege to still hear them. Some awesome knives on the site provided MJC, thanks. ::tu:: ::tu::

Doesn't that make you want to go down to the Spitfire Café for a bite?

I just discovered this thread. Even though the OP is old the website is great and worth a detailed exploration.

And if Spitfires (or Hurricanes) are your thing then poke around and find the Meaningful Metals link on the site where you can buy keychains made from the armor plate of these planes. They are traced to the specific squadron and plane number and the date and location of where the aircraft crashed while defending Britain. Very cool.
