Expressly for America

Post by Canadian collector »

Found this interesting, William Jackson & co Sheffield I found they made knives from 1850s to around 1890s. I havnt seen any blades with the destination stamped on the blade.

That's pretty nice. A well used pruner showing off a little history.
Nice stamp and font.

I don't believe I have seen that kind of stamping either.
Many knives from Sheffield and other places were destined for America.

Very cool! First time I've seen that in a blade, and also the first Jackson knife I've seen. ::tu::

I love seeing these beautiful old knives, so thank you for sharing it!.
I wonder if the stamp had to do with some tariffs or something at the time? I have no idea, I am only brainstorming. I hope that someone has documentation that can clear it up.
No matter the reason, it is a really unique stamp.

Hey C.C., Winnipeg here! ::handshake:: That's a really cool old knife you have there, I've not seen anything like it. I'm sure that judging by the comments lots of other guys like it also. It's nice seeing you here! 8)

That old school typography stamped on the blade is just beautiful. Definitely a great little piece of history there.
