Advertising knife

Post by Qwertypassword »

Hello Fellow Collectors, I am after some help with this one please. It's not my usual knife category of interest. Is anyone able to offer any thoughts about a likely date of production on this knife &/or a likely valuation ? Thanks, any assistance appreciated.

The trademark on the blade is used by H. Kaufman of Solingen Germany. The stamp doesn't help date the knife as it has been used for an extensive time frame into the 1990's. Very cool litttle figural knife that looks to have some age on it.

Looks to be from 1957 or before according to this article.

If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Hello Wayne, Thanks for your reply , I had thought the k55 was familiar to me from mercator bladeware. It would be interesting to know if it was pre WW1 or interwar or post WW2 ? It may not be possible to determine however. Regards Brad

Is the blade tip snapped off. The picture with blade closed seems to show blade is close to full length ?

Yes, regrettably the tip of the blade is gone, still displays reasonably well in the closed position. Thanks.
