Nice little Theo M Green....more info please

Post by flootiebuell »

Picked up a nice little knife today....stamped "Theo M Green and Co." From what I have found they were around from 1915 to 1920 then became the Domar Company. Any one have more info then that? Can't seem to find any actual Knives posted anywhere....kinda rare?

Thanks..

New one to me;sorry I can't help you on the name.Looks like a well made knife and the scales are reminiscent of a Cattaraugus razor I have. I think Remington used similar scales as well. Nice score.

The company was run by Mr. Green from 1916 to 1920. Green operated the business out of the basement in his home in Oklahoma City. The firm was renamed Domar Cutlery Company at some point, but around 1920 Green left the cutlery business and closed shop. Given that the company was only in business for about 5 years I'd guess their knives are pretty scarce. Great find. ::tu::

Someone used to advertise in Knife World that they collected Theo Green knives, and were interested in buying any Oklahoma City stamped knives. I don't recall their name though. ::shrug:: Mark.

Found this beauty the other day. A Theo. M. Green & co. Office Knife. I can't find any knives by this maker online. Are they pretty rare?

Welcome to AAPK. Nice find. I think you’ve answered your own question. Probably the only information you’ll find is in the prior posts in this thread. ::nod::

There aren't a lot of them out there. I have two. Yours looks to quite a lot of wear, but overall seems to be in fair condition. Do you collect them? If not and you are considering selling, please let me know.

Thanks for all the info. I collect antiques and love rare items that you don't see everyday. I knew nothing about this knife when I bought it except that I had never seen the maker before. If I decide to sell it I will definitely let you know.

Thanks. Theo Green put together pocket knives in the basement of his home,in Oklahoma City, I believe from 1916 to about 1920.
I believe he bought the parts from Iverson. During WWI he also made them under the name of Domar. That was a combination of the names of his Daughters Dorthy and Margaret. He also had a contract with Oklahoma Hardware. They would sell the knive in their store. So any knife with Theo M. Green, Domar, or Oklahoma Hardware on the tang were put together by him. They are all marked Okla City, on the tang with a few marked Oakla City.
