Very early transition knife
Very early transition knife
George Wostenholm 2 bladed knife 3 3/4 inches closed.... the larger blade is stamped....Front side... George Wostenholm IXL Cutlery... Back side England....the small blade..IXL George Wostenholm Celebrated...This leads me to believe that this knife was made approx. 1891 at the end of one period and the beginning of another....The knife is old and well used; a beautiful old artifact that I believe to be original and a early transition knife! Welcome all discussion!!

Nice knife. Nice Hemingray insulator.

Thank you!... I thought they complement each other well...I found the Hemingray No. 12 years ago on my Grandfather's farm! Earlier I posted Old Knife 1860-1890's which I featured a George Wostenholms Celebrated IXL cutlery knife!
Re: Very early transition knife
The celebrated was used right up into the 1930s, personally I wouldn't refer to it as a "transition" knife.
Re: Very early transition knife
Yeah.. If celebrated was used until the 1930's it couldn't call it a transition knife ( I really didn't know)….thanks!!
