This guy is called udknives and is selling them claiming they are made in the USA. Others would know far more than me but these sure look like Pakistan Damascus and you would think are too cheap to be made in the USA and sold for so little. Look at all of his knives for sale?

From the seller’s description:

OUR MANUFACTURING IS FROM PAKISTAN SO OUR MOST ITEMS WILL DISPATCH FROM PAKISTAN
Based on the rest of the description’s wording, my guess is the author’s English is a second language. ::shrug::

Ships from USA (Dundalk, MD) and what Ken posted above, which is further down in the seller's description. Sounds like something I need to avoid. ::facepalm::

I checked out the website and the new spelling. The Ryder conforms to the 'Red Ryder' of my childhood. Best known for BB guns and western movies with Bill Elliott and Robert Blake.
As to the site, I never particularly associated this brand of knives with Smoky Mountain Knife Works. Is that something new?

As far as I know, SMKW has always owned the Rough Rider/Rough Ryder brand.

There is also another UD Knives that seems unrelated to the ebay seller:

Ray, I still get SMKW catalogs several times a year even though I haven’t bought anything from them in many years. It’s typically got several pages of Rough Ryders. Also Steel Warrior and other made in a China brands - my unscientific guess is 70-80% or more of the catalog content is from China. For that reason, right or wrong I associate SMKW with Rough Ryder.

BTW there was a thread here a while back about the name change from Rough Rider to Rough Ryder.

The way the sheath is constructed is also reminiscent of oriental imports. IMO. Taz

I believe Rough Rider/Ryder is co- owned by SMKW and Blue Ridge Knives.

Since they claim US and Pakistan I would be hesitant to buy one. I like to know country of origin, and what steel it’s made from. The latter being so important to me that the only Case I buy is carbon steel. Tru-sharp not only tells me nothing about the steel, but I also think it inferior to quality stainless steels on the market. I way prefer a powder steel or VG10. Trusharp doesn’t hold its edge.
