Curious about a Mexican Bowie

Post by Mavrik »

I'm calling this a Mexican Bowie knife because although I'm not sure that's a correct identification I don't know what else to call it.

I picked this up on an estate sale auction a few dollars as the second of a pair of knives they were selling. Checking the internet, I've found a few images of similar eagle head knives that appear to be from the 50s/60s but it has some differences and I haven't found any stamped the same. I'm interested in any additional information on this knife.

The blade is 7 1/4in and overall length is right at 12in.

A lot of people refer to any large knife as a "Bowie", and many would call this a "Mexican Bowie". It is not a real Bowie but this only matters to Bowie collectors.
As for age, hard to know how you could be certain, but 1950's to 1970's ? seems reasonably likely.
