Not quite sure what I have here...
Howdy y'all....
I came across this knife and brought it for $10. Needed a good cleaning up but looked like it was in decent shape. Only I can't make out much of a tang stamp, there's possibly remnants of one. So I'm hoping that our experts here might be able to identify what it is that I've found. Any help would be appreciated, and Thank you!
Measures 3 3/4 closed, both blades have half stop

Queen that had a blade etch and no stamp.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

I've owned a few of these with the etch. Many are thrown off by the knife not being Winterbottm bone. I don't think it ever had a stamp and only the etch that has since faded. Pretty sure it's a Queen #10 jack.

Re: Not quite sure what I have here...
I will agree with the idea folks are thrown off not seeing the Winterbottom bone on some Queen knives.
The catalogs that are available on line show that in 1952 they had the same handle as the knife in question. It was called Genuine Frontier Bone Stag, the next year, 1953 shows the #10 with a Winterbottom handle, it too is referred to as Genuine Frontier Bone Stag.
All the available on line catalogs beyond '53 show the #10 with the Winterbottom handles described as as those above. In the '72-'78 catalog the handle material appears to be imitation Winterbottom bone but is not described or identified as in older catalogs.
The catalogs all say the #10's closed length is 3 11/16", some lists I have say they are 3.625" which is 3 5/8".
All that to say Queen seems to be difficult to pin down at times and with out a tang stamp it should fit the '60-''71 era but it appears that handle material was last offered in 1952. Maybe they found some old handle material and used it during the no stamp/etch only era.
Been interesting trying to figure out your knife, Gone2Three and you got a bargain for 10 bucks whatever it is!

I think it could be a Queen City, probably the tang was in block letters so that would put it in a early time frame.
That looks to be Rodgers bone handles to me. How the tang got worn that bad is any body'sguess.

Wayne the time period for the no tang, etch only was 61 to 71, my question is, was Queen using carbon steel in that time period?

Re: Not quite sure what I have here...
Well gentlemen, while at work today all I could think about was this knife. Needless to say I have been thinking about what Wayne said and when I logged back in I see now that Treefarmer and bighomer have joined in...
I remembered that I purchased a #10 a while ago so I went to digging and low and behold!
I put them side by side and it's almost identical, the weight of the #10 feels lighter than the older one. I overlayed them and it's a match.
Only thing left now is to determine year?... I haven't seen a queen city block letter tang, have to look one up but regardless, for the money that I invested, I'm stoked that I brought it!
So Thank you all so much for helping me out!

I had one identical to the op knife. It was very near mint with Rogers bone handles and a beautiful but light Queen City Blade etch. I thought it to be a early knife. No tang stamp and carbon steel.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.
