CASE 1981 P172 WITH 3 HANDLE PINS

Post by Billswfl »

Did Case make a 1981 P172 Buffalo with 3 handle pins instead of 5?

I have seen them with both 3 pin and 5 pin. I have no information on the differences, or the reason, but I am sure one of our more knowledgeable members will add some information. But if you look in the AAPK store, there are a couple for sale with 3 pins, one has green bone.

The earlier 70's knives had 5 pins and Case changed to 3 pins. Pakawood is very stable and at some point about 1980 Case decided 3 pins were enough to secure the handles.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.
