Is it common???
Is it common for a knife that's "obviously never been sharpened" to be half the width of what the blade should be and not have a choil?

Why Doug, I’m surprised you’d ask such a question. It’s common in Tennessee!

Not sure how people can do this knowing that it's just plain wrong.

It would surprise you how many knife buyers are totally clueless. If it's shiny, it's got to be new.

Never sharpened after it was buffed to death! The seller has a lot of gall to be asking that for a well-worn knife, but he’s obviously looking for a sucker.

Any possibility that blade has been welded at the tang?

Re: Is it common???
Just for yucks I e-mailed the seller and asked how it could be close to mint and unsharpened when 30% or more of the blade was missing. He replied that I obviously know nothing about the pattern. He is obviously a knife guy, and he obviously is just ignorant or a deceiver.
Re: Is it common???
Very common on a worn out knife that has been overly cleaned. Often a new choil is added on knives like this but it is still well used and overly cleaned. eBay is full of pieces of coal that are described and purchased as diamonds.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.
