Help With This Ka-Bar Fixed Blade Knife
Re: Help With This Ka-Bar Fixed Blade Knife
I’m not an expert, but by the tang stamps I’d say yours is older than mine. Nice knife.

Since it has the ALL CAPS KA-BAR logo, it is before 1952, when the company changed its name from Union Cutlery to Kabar Cutlery. At that time, the logo shifted to Ka-bar , i.e., uppper and lower case italicized.
Re: Help With This Ka-Bar Fixed Blade Knife
Yooper, your knife appears to be a 5207 from just before the change to Kabar as ED's knife is marked. Looks like a pinned on pommel? Ed's 598 is later, 1952-1968 before they began putting model numbers on the blades. Ed's may actually have a different model number than 598 as they changed the model numbers a couple times after 1952, but if it were a pre '52 it would be a 598. Not sure of exactly when they changed the model numbers, they did use 598 for a while after the change from KA-BAR to Kabar.
