Providence Cutlery tang stamp question

Post by Gone2Three »

Howdy friends, my quest for additional information has turned up empty on this Providence Cutlery stamp.

Arched Providence over CUTLERY Co

Information I found shows 1916-1926 so is this an early stamping?

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide
Randy

I think what you have there is a knife made by the Providence Cutlery Company of Germany, circa 1890 -1915. The U.S.A. Providence Cutlery Co was normally also stamped with the Providence R.I. address and didn't have the line under the "co" which often signifies German origin.
