Gene Carter Name on Imperial Knife.
Gene Carter Name on Imperial Knife.
I bought this knife at an auction and the blades look quite new. The name Gene Carter is on the main blade. I thought at first it was a name engraved from the manufacturer but I can’t find anything on google, EBay or this website. Now I wonder if the owner of this knife had his name engraved. Any thoughts on this? I appreciate the help that I have received here!

Re: Gene Carter Name on Imperial Knife.
It is an Electrician's knife. Very common pattern. I cannot see why a manufacturer would put a name on it. As you say maybe the owner had his name engraved so it would not get mixed up with a co-worker's Electrician's knife ?

Re: Gene Carter Name on Imperial Knife.
The name could be electrical contractor who ordered a bunch of knives with his name on it, it could have been the name of a jobber or a distributor, sales representative, or any other of several explanations. As KJ pointed out It is one of the most common patterns. It doesn't appear to be a deep etch, just a quick etch from alternating current as opposed to using a direct current which actually removes metal from it.
I like collecting oddities among the brands of electricians knives.
