another tang stamp help
Hi everybody you people are great you helped me once now i need help again. I can not find any info on this knife see pics any help would be really great thank you gordonjohn. somebody coated the knife with some black stuff which was hard to get off the blade so i could see the tang stamp.

It looks like the bottom line is "Sheffield". Can you use a loupe and make out what is stamped in the 2 lines over Sheffield ?

Hi Kootenay joe , from what i can see the tang stamp reads C BRAY HAMPD????? SHEFFIELD .thats all I know I am unable to find out the maker or time period the handles are wood thanks

There was a Charles Gray and Sons out of St Philips Works in Sheffield from the mid to late 1800's. That knife might have been made there.

I think Ea42 has ID'd your knife. There is no information about a "Bray" associated with knives, so it almost certainly is "Gray".
