What was this knife used for?
What was this knife used for?
This is an interesting knife that I haven’t seen before. I find no name on it except USA. It is quite heavy and I was wondering what it was used for?

Perhaps a heavy-duty can opener D.M.?
Re: What was this knife used for?
I say it's a hybrid. The blade itself looks like a caping knife.
Looks like a mill handle someone put a blade in from either another knife, or made themselves.

I have a Murphy box/leather cutting tool with a similar handle and a blade insert that is around 4" long and sharp on one end. I agree that this could be the same type of handle and someone made a different blade insert for it.

Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

Hard to say what it is, could be a knife make for a taxidermist for caping out or trimming around the skull. Looks well made. We will keep guessing. Terry

Can the blade be easily exchanged for another?
Is it fixed blade or folding?

Thanks for all the ideas! It does not fold and looks like it could be easy to loosen screw and change out
