STILLE knife?
STILLE knife?
Found this one in the barn. I assume a kitchen or carving knife. Searching STILLE only comes up as new surgical instruments. I would like an approximate age. Thanks Bob
Re: STILLE knife?
Could well be a surgical instrument. The handle would be correct for a surgical amputation blade.

Re: STILLE knife?
over all length 11 1/2 inches blade is 8 inches. The handle is wood. I was thinking a chefs knife? Also the blade tip is angled I believe a TONTO style? Bob
Re: STILLE knife?
2nd on it being an amputation blade. Google "antique amputation knife" and view the images. Also, the tip looks more like a sheepsfoot than a tanto.

Re: STILLE knife?
update, from a PDF, STILLE surgical instruments from Sweden. Albert Stille took over a company in 1841.
the PDF shows a boxed set of these knives in a surgical kit. I have two different lengths of these. Bob
