Finally found one.............

Post by knife7knut »

Nothing special;just a humorous little fish scaler/paring knife combination I've seen many times but for some reason never one for sale. Found this one at a garage sale for $2. Etched,"Veri-Sharp" and that is no exaggeration.

That's pretty slick. Never seen anything like it. How long had you been searching for one of these? And who made them?

Very cool! ::tu:: I see that it is marked Fish-Master, Made In USA and has a patent #. It should be semi easy to search for info on this knife. ::shrug::

I saw one of them quite a few years ago and thought they were unique which is what I like to collect now. When you remove the knife from the holder,it acts as a fish scaler due to the roughness of the bottom of the handle.Don't know how well it works;most fish scalers are pretty much useless anyway. It's easier just to fillet them.

Enter the patent number into Google patents. You get all the info including the drawings

https://patents.google.com/

I’m intrigued by its other functions. The lower lip and mouth look like a staple remover. I’m also surprised it doesn’t have a bottle opener.

Veri-Sharp was one of Imperial's trademarks used on kitchen cutlery. Somewhere I've got a Fish-Master that still has the Imperial etch on it. If I can dig it up I'll post a pic. I also remember finding it in an old catalog from the late 50s - maybe early 60s.
