Today I went my buddies house for coffee and he was talking about splitting wood with a wedge by beating on the wedge with a single bit... ::dang:: ::disgust:: I said "you are losing weight" he said "I am splitting up fire wood" then he went on to tell the tale of woe... ::facepalm::

I would really like to find one of those Marbles in good condition. They may have been a lot of different companies, or divisions of the same company, I don't know. But, I have Marbles knives, sights for my 1899 Savage rifles, and an Oak Marbles office chair.

And a lot of reproductions. I've been looking for an actual Safety Axe (the kind with the folding guard). Seems 3/4 are reproducitons selling for over $150, and good old ones, "Don't even think about it".

I have the plastic handle one SMKW sells. Gets the job done, and I've beat the heck out of mine, but it's uncomfortable and kinda cheap.

Soaking a True Temper Double-bit for a second time in some fresh new vinegar (and a pair of scissors for 1st time). The 1st soaking was is some really old vinegar and it did not clean it very well.

Soaking the True Temper 2xBit in vinegar bath. Then after a little clean up. However I am going to soak it again as there are still some troublesome rust spots stuck to it. ::disgust::

I just clean these axes up and dunked them in the oil tank so they look a little dull. A Collins, a Keenkutter and a Plumb. Next some cleaning up on the wire wheel.

Cutting down a tree today for a friend. The lot next door appears to have a homeless camp in it and the people were burning electrical wire to get the insulation of the wire. They are burning it on the other side of the fence under the tree. Not such a good idea as it is very dry here. So the friend wanted the tree down. I am using to small axe and hatchet to cut up the smaller branches so they will fit into a dumpster. The chainsaw stopped working, so the small axes come in handy until my buddy went into town and bought a new Craftsman chainsaw... ::groove:: problem solved!!!

Here is a hatchet I bought from a blacksmith in Kenya Africa. He made right in front of me and I got great photos of him working on it over a coal forge right on the ground. You can see it a piece of leaf spring if you closely.

I bought this one for a quarter at a garage sale. Is it worth cleaning up or putting it on eBay?
