Tomahawk (sugar maple practice)

Post by geocash »

I bought the head & handle for the tomahawk because I wanted a tomahawk & because I wanted more practice finishing figured sugar maple. l have a southern mountain longrifle kit that I'm afraid to finish until I have more practice. The hawk did turn out better than my first effort with sugar maple, the fantasy war club beside it. I also had a little fun making a leather sheath to match the tomahawk. Before I stitched it up I even glued a piece of leather over the inside snap so it wouldn't scratch it. I would have been a little happier if it matched the color in the stock of the store-bought rifle in the last image a little better.
