What is it?

Post by Eye Brand Man »

Y’all ever seen one of these? Looks like it has a special purpose, but for what?

I've never seen one of those before. To me, the one gizmo looks like a tenderizer. I googled "vintage hatchet with tenderizer" and quite a few came up. But none that looks like yours. I can't figure out the spike and the round piece. ::shrug::
Great looking item. ::tu::

Don't know what it's used for but you could definitely do some damage with it

I have no clue but you sure have found a very unique Hatchet ::shrug:: ::shrug:: ::shrug::

There is a picture of a hatchet that is similar on PICCLICK.COM that sold on E-bay but it must have sold a long time ago because there is no information other than the picture. If one was to speculate it looks like it had to be a special tool that had multiple functions.

Good Luck on your research ::tu:: ::tu:: ::tu::

Got it from a buddy that buys and sells guns and knives. He got it at an estate sale. I got it from him purely for its uniqueness and I’d never seen anything like it.

I may be crazy, but they all have kitchen uses. TSkip mentioned the tenderizer for meat, ice pick, bowl for grinding spices, blade for splitting meat joints.

I think it’s a universal kitchen tool. Maybe for a chuck wagon kitchen.

I think that it is a home-made shade-tree cutler fantasy whacker.

I don’t know Cal. I looked it over pretty good and it definitely looks to be factory made.

What is the lenght and weight? Is it as heavy as a standard hatchet? Very cool whatever it is.

Wopper Chopper?

Here is a similar piece that went across eBay some time ago. The seller called it an ice hatchet and that sounds plausible.

If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.
