Gorget believe to be Native American

Post by raincrowe »

I found an unusual item at the flea market I believe it to be a Gorget with some symbols.... it appears to be made of black slate
approx. three and three fourth inches across approx. 3/4 thick...This item appears to be old... the two holes seems to be done with a flint drill
The Gorget is round in shape I found some on-line, but they are made of shell..... I've noticed some small marks on the piece front and back
one thought for this was that the warrior wore this around the neck to protect the throat and windpipe from arrows in battle....
I know this is off the beaten path but just throwing it out there to see if anyone can help identify or add some more information on this item
any and all is welcome... ::tu::

Interesting item but I don't think it's old or Native American. Looks like a modern fantasy piece to me.

How can you tell if it is a modern piece?
