Bob, both are WW2 original. The red spacer makes it early production. That it survived in such good condition must mean that it did not see any hard front-line use.

My girlfriend and I drove up to the Baltimore Antique Arms Show this past weekend, mainly so I could purchase this book - The Model 1918 Mark I Trench Knife and Variations by Greg Aloisio. Met and bought the book from Greg, pretty awesome at over 300 pages with lots of knife pictures, some in wartime action from WWI & II, and great information. 99% of the firearms there were Civil War or older and they even had a cannon display. Pretty huge venue at the State Fairgrounds, lots of vendors and people there. Probably the size of the National Gun Show at Dulles and worth checking out. This was their 64th annual show.

Looking for a picture of a WWII gravity knife I stumbled upon this Case display of issued knives and cutters, thought everyone might like checking it out.

Was gifted these two knives, a modified M4 bayonet and a commercial PSK from Japan. They both seem to be missing their pommels, the hilt on the PSK being loose. No markings on the M4 and someone took a grinder to the blade in addition to removing the barrel ring. I didn't think bayonets had leather washer handles but obviously they do. Pretty much gardening tools at this point.

In actuality you have a pretty nice pair. In their entirety they may not seem like much. But they do have period leather rings or pommel or guard or even blade that some day may be needed in an effort to make a piece in much worse condition that has real meaning to someone at least still be true to to period and maybe look even a bit better. IMO they need a drawer to rest in, after all they have done their part. I do think the m4 blade is in fact an m3 fighting knife blade and it appears to be in pretty good condition. The sheaths even though not perfect look better when repaired(A good leather worker can do wonders) than a knockoff Good luck and happy hunting.

The barrel ring on the M-4 was ground off. The orientation of the picture doesn't show it but there is no doubt that it had a barrel ring from the factory. The sheaths are rough, I've rubbed some Pecard's leather dressing into both in the hope of breathing some life into the leather. Thank you for your comments.

Can you guys help me out with the attached ??? Can’t find a thing anywhere as expected. the first photo is poor but basically it’s a Puma with the Eagle holding the swat..1939 under that. Thanks in advance for this one. I can post better picks with a different camera if needed. There’s some oil on the blade for storage.

I didn’t thankfully, I know there are almost none of what this would be out there and wasn’t willing to take a large risk. Any other thoughts on it ?

Ok, how is my question ? I didn’t get it thinking it was real but am curious on possibly it origin and why as some thought definitely went into making it. The D.R.P to me was an interesting add on a fake? No
Thx

Posted this in the General Discussion forum and figured it would go here as well. A Robeson Shuredge Mk2 with original sheath. The blade is full and unfortunately some idiot decided a grinder was the way to sharpen it. Luckily the grind marks aren't too deep and are slowly being removed with the help of 220 grit wet-or-dry paper and Marvel Mystery Oil.I didn't have a Robeson in my accumulation and this one makes a nice addition;especially since it was only $10.
EDIT: Upon trying to do some research I am now questioning whether this knife is in fact a military item.Although it has all the appearance of a Mk2 the blade length is only 6 inches and I thought the Mk2's blades were at least 7 inches. It is stamped USA and not USN or USMC. Any thoughts on this? I'm not really well versed in military items.

Nice SA Dagger and bayonet with frog/hanger. There's a missing shield on the dagger but from your picture it looks authentic. Lots of reproductions of this knife out there, both new and old.

They were brought back from Europe after the war by the deceased person. He had a lot of other really interesting war related items that provided an opportunity to learn some new things.

EWMailman :
You could do your knifing community a heck of a favor by letting it be known what the military knives at your auction sold for. There is such a fluctuation between real prices and those suggested by books and the net that determining what to list at is getting tougher by the week. If for some reason you decide not to show them that is okay also.
Thank you and God Bless,

Mossdancer: Being somewhat new ( 8 mo. ) to AAPK, I am not certain of when I may be and do not want to be guilty of crossing the bounds of propriety regarding content of posts. Since you asked, I will be more than happy to share that information.

*SA Dagger missing shield and button---$350.00

*K98 Bayonet and scabbard with matching serial numbers---$130.00

Hope this is helpful

This one brought back by my Dad from WWII. No sheath. The empty diamond shaped hole in the handle once held a red inset with a black swastkia. It fell out and was lost probably 50 years ago, dadgum it. 5” blade, total length 9”. Very well made. Can anybody point me to info on this model?
