Mil-K, Utility Knives
Re: Mil-K, Utility Knives
Call me crazy. But I find the best thing to do with a knife like that is give it some pocket time use it a little.
Even if you don’t use it, something about bouncing around in a pocket seems to even out the corrosion into a nice patina and brings out the beauty.
Nice solid knife. Great collection you’ve accumulated.

Re: Mil-K, Utility Knives
This afternoon, this pocket knife joined my MIL-K pocket knife collection. It is my third, 1959 CAMILLUS, single blade, 3 tool pocket knife. It joins my three STEVENSON 45's, my CAMILLUS 1949, my CAMILLUS 1958, my other two CAMILLUS 1959's and my CAMILLUS 1960 MIL-K's that I posted previously. It is in EXCELLENT condition and required no cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

Another nice one, Skip. Any significance to the years that you collect? I looked at your previous posts and didn't see anything, maybe I missed it?

Re: Mil-K, Utility Knives
Thank you John.
I didn't go after ANY of these for any particular reason.
I initially just wanted the 1949 because it's a VERY rare
MIL-K. After I obtained the "49", I decided to go after
the next rarest year(s) and get as many as I can. That's
where I am at the present time. NONE of the dates that
I have mean anything special to me.

Gotcha, Skip, just a rare collector's interest, nothing wrong with that.

This afternoon, this CAMILLUS became the latest MIL-K pattern pocket knife to join my collection. It is my first (so far), 1957 CAMILLUS, single blade, 3 tool pocket knife. It joins my three STEVENSON 45's, a CAMILLUS 1949, a CAMILLUS 1958, three CAMILLUS 1959's and a CAMILLUS 1960 MIL-K. It is in EXCELLENT condition and required minimal cleaning. This afternoon, this SCHRADE, possibly made by CAMILLUS or ?, became the latest MIL-K pattern pocket knife to join my collection. This is my first SCHRADE 1982, single blade, 3 tool pocket knife. It joins my three STEVENSON 45's, a CAMILLUS 1949, a CAMILLUS 1957, two CAMILLUS 1958's, three CAMILLUS 1959's and a CAMILLUS 1960 MIL-K. What is "odd" about this pocket knife,
is that the awl has a nail nick, on the inside.
Using up the blade inventory?

Re: Mil-K, Utility Knives
Yesterday, this "U. S. MARINE CORPS" became the latest MIL-K pattern pocket knife to join my collection. It is an "UNKNOWN", single blade, 3 tool, brass liners pocket knife. It joins my three STEVENSON 45's, a CAMILLUS 1949, a CAMILLUS 1957, two CAMILLUS 1958's, three CAMILLUS 1959's, a CAMILLUS 1960, a SCHRADE 1982 and an ULSTER. I can't find a bail stamp, a tang stamp, or any remains of either. But, I'm 99.999% sure that this is a "KINGSTON." If it is a "KINGSTON", then it is a second pattern, MIL-K pocket knife. It is in GOOD condition and it needed cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

Re: Mil-K, Utility Knives
This morning, the latest MIL-K pattern pocket knife to join my collection is this one. It is an Imperial 1976, single blade, 3 tool pocket knife. It joins my three STEVENSON 45's, a CAMILLUS 1949, a CAMILLUS 1957, two CAMILLUS 1958's, three CAMILLUS 1959's, a CAMILLUS 1960, a SCHRADE 1982, an ULSTER and a KINGSTON(?) "U.S. MARINE CORPS." All these MIL-K pattern pocket knives have been previously posted. I didn't buy this pocket knife for any particular reason, but I did need a MIL-K pattern from Imperial. It is just one of a three MIL-K pocket knife lot that I bought. The other two have NOT been posted yet. It is in Near Mint condition and it didn't need cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.
