Help! We have alcoholics anonymous, gamblers anonymous, but do we have wood burners anonymous (not Pyromania )?
I can't stop, I keep looking for new patterns and new ideas. Now I just wish they were looking more realistic... :(

Great work. Are you using carbon paper to transfer drawings to the wood?

Yes on most of them. Some things like the background or the baby elephant I freehand, then outline everything with different wood burning tips. Then the shading which I hope to get better at.

Here's my latest. I don't do wildlife very well or background scenery.
I'm rather proud of the Clint Eastwood.

A couple of more I've finished.
The first one is my brother in law's horse so that one is going to him.
The next one is how I started out on the Winchester logo and then the third one is it finished.

Most excellent work ! I wish I had talent like that. My favorite ones are the ones done on the round or ovals with the live edges (bark). It enhances the work more than on a plank. More natural. Myself, I can’t draw a straight line even if it’s 1 inch in length. Very impressive work.
"The Edge...There is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.

For the past few days I've been doing some simple projects and practicing with different wood burner tips and techniques. I also got some colored leaded pencils used with woodworking and tried them on a couple of projects. The last one is from an oil painting and I think I have some more practicing to do... :(

Finished up the first one late last night.
Wasn't sure if Elvis was going to look like Elvis and I'm mad about the last one. I didn't notice the wood was bad until it was too late to stop.

Got these two finished today. The first one is from an actually photo of my brother and his wife when they drove all the way up through Canada to Alaska. They would stop and do some hiking sometimes on the trails. In this one he set his camara up on a timed shot.

That's all excellent work. How long does it take for you to transfer a picture (say like the sailing ship) to the wood using carbon paper?
