Wood carving projects

Postby OLDE CUTLER » Tue Feb 20, 2018 9:52 pm

Usually my wood carving projects seem to go in this direction.
Wood Duck, Hooded Merganser, Canvasback, Pintail at front.

Or sometimes like this.
Mallard on stained pine box.

Redhead on cherry box.

Now days I used an Exacto carving knife for the mini decoys, disposable blades, but I still resharpen them.

Those are really nice OC. I have only one wood carved duck from Big Sky Carvers. Maybe you should open a store here and start selling some. ::nod::

Thanks for your comments. I have been carving decoys, both full size and mini since 1986. Never really tried to sell them. We have quite a "flock" around the house now. On the full size, I still use my Grandpa's RT Brand draw knife that is over 100 years old. Wow, what an edge you can put on that one.

Nice carvings and boxes as well. I like them all. A real talent.

I prefer collecting antique Remington knives but I sometimes do some whittling. John

Does anyone do Santa carvings? I really enjoy them and would love to learn from others that carve them. Thank you, John

A good looking Viking you've got there. I've seen some Santa stuff on here. About the only carving I do on anything with a face is when I shave of a morning. That Viking is great, be sure and post any Santas you do.
