I only have a couple of carved ducks. I enjoy them and I very much enjoy yours.

have my pipe and my home grown cut, dried, etc. Kentucky tobacco from
some folk's I know in the business down there and have been lucky to buy from them for years....
a comfy chair and a pipe full of backie does wonders for a man's soul !!!

I have not been there yet, but have a book that has many photos of the decoys in the museum there. Some very old and historic pieces. Totally out of my league. I use patterns by Anthony Hillman, which are patterned after decoys from around World War I or shortly before. The working decoys from that period had feather details painted on instead of carved in. The woods used are what was plentiful in the individuals area of residence. I have used mostly cedar and pine in my ducks.

Stagman, thank you for your kind remarks. By the way, I too love to sit out back and relax with my pipe. We have a nice little shop in town that mixes up some very nice blends but I still enjoy lighting up with Carter Hall....... showing what a tight wad I am. Lol. John

Redhead Mallard Hand carved from pine, painted like the old working decoys from around WWI, blue collar decoys.

OC the carving is exquisite, the painting as well. You have a way with wood. Absolutely great work.

If you ever get out east, in Havre de Grace, Maryland, is the Duck Decoy Museum.
Fascinating place. Your work would be worthy!
