I like it! Nice work!

Thanks guys. Wish I could do something nicer like I see in here! Maybe one day. I still have to sand to get it looking decent.

Very nice!
It was just a basswood block. I’ve got some butternut that would be nice to try with, but I don’t think it’s thick enough for a deep spoon.

If you make chili half as well as you carve spoons, it's gonna be a great time camping ::tu:: ::tu::

My best pal and bass player was a great craftsman. He was James E."Ned" Mackenzie . We lost him 10 tears ago to diabetes. He made this West Virginia Cherry apple butter spoon. From the tree to the spoon, all Ned. One piece. His etched name and info is in the pic but hard to read.
It says, JEM WORKS, WEST VIRGINIA. 235, WILD CHERRY. He lived in Dodridge County. Hope you like it. J.O'.

Sorry about the crooked pics!

Thanks guys. Miss that boy. He had a portable saw mill he'd drag into the woods and cut railroad ties all day by himself. I just reread my original post and realized I said we lost him "10 tears ago". What an interesting slip ! I meant "years" but ..... ::teary_eyes::

Here are some recent spoons that I made.

I make almost all of my spoons out of white birch

Here is one I whittled, just using a knife - no bent knife or gouge.
