Just finished this lion for my nephew's 5th birthday. It took a lot longer to make than I expected!

I think it took even longer to sand it than it did to whittle. Next time I think I'll try to do "cleaner" cuts and forgo sanding. I like the sanded look for some pieces, but not for others. I'm not sure why. I think that maybe when I work with softer woods I feel like I need to sand my work, but not with harder woods. Does anyone else relate to that?
