Hoyt Buck produced the first Buck Knife in 1902. Hoyt and his son Al moved to San Diego and set up shop as H.H. Buck & Son in 1947. Al Buck revolutionized the knife industry in 1964 with the infamous Model 110 Folding Hunter. The company's innovative history and attention to quality have made for many great collectible knives.

Over the past 40 or so years I have accumulated a number of Buck knives;both USA and "Pacific Rim" models. My own personal preference for use is a model 186 sans the pocket clip and takedown tool. All the beef of a 110 and half the weight. My biggest issue with the 110 was it's handle heaviness if used for prolonged periods of time.
Anyway here they are for better or worse. It will take a few posts so please be patient.
What's the story with that very first you posted? Really interesting.
That is the Buck 186 Titan.Only manufactured for a couple of years likely because of poor sales. Not because it was a poor knife but because it was about three times the price of a 110.The frame was made of titanium and featured a detachable pocket clip also made of titanium. It also was able to be dis-assembled using a small hex wrench that attached to the side opposite the clip for cleaning. In the kit was a plastic sleeve to slide over the blade to protect from cuts when dis-assembling.
If you didn't want to use the pocket clip or have the tool attached, shorter screws were supplied with the knife to allow for a smooth handle.
I bought mine I think in 1986 or 87 and they were $65 at the time. Later they made another titanium handled knife(Model 560)that could not be dis-assembled.One of them was just on e-Bay and re-listed a couple times because the price wasn't met.I think the auction topped at around $130.
Yeah, very pricey for the time, but seems worth it. Really nice knife!
A couple of great collections of Buck Knives on display here. Amazing how many nice Buck Knives you can accumulate - even of a brand that is not your primary collecting focus. Very nice gents! OH
Deep in the guts of most men is buried the involuntary response to the hunter's horn, a prickle of the nape hairs, an acceleration of the pulse, an atavistic memory of his fathers, who killed first with stone, and then with club...Robert Ruark
I just added a Buck 112 file worked auto to my pile. I don't actively collect Bucks, but they just seem to gather in my collection, so here are some of the folders.____Dave

Second set of photos (5) are of a 2008 Buck 111 "Final Production". Acorn scrolled Bolsters. And the REALLY nice thing about this particular 111 is; It is Serialized #111. A Buck 111, w/ Ser. # 111. How lucky is that.
