Re: Show off your favorite GECs!
GEC makes a lot of knives with Micarta handles. Micarta is an excellent handle material especially for a 'work' knife, it won't chip or shrink, hardly ever cracks and can still be firmly gripped when wet. I know many collectors really like the Micarta GEC's. A couple of months ago a few #66 with OD Green Micarta sold for around $600-$700. But i just can't get myself interested in them.

Yes, thank you Floyd. I know there are others who are also 'unmoved' by Micarta. But as many GEC collectors do 'go for' Micarta handled knives there must be some aspect of their attractiveness that i cannot see.doglegg wrote: ↑Sat Jun 12, 2021 4:59 pmRoland I'm with you. Maybe those who do like Micarta can help me learn why i might enjoy a Micarta GEC.

Love that one BTHunter. Sweeeeeet jigging, and the OKCA shows hold a special place in my heart. Love those. Can't wait to attend another one. Last two were cancelled and really a bummer. Congrats on that sweeeeeeet sweet knife.BeaverTail_Hunter wrote: ↑Sat Jul 17, 2021 7:05 pm I enjoy collecting “beaver tails” and any help finding them is appreciated. Here is a favorite of mine:

I appreciate it. I love the beaver tails but the OKCA club knives are the pinnacle in my opinion. I still need the 2015 and 2012. If you know any fellow members or see one at a show, please let me know.Ivoryman wrote: ↑Sat Jul 17, 2021 8:14 pmLove that one BTHunter. Re: Show off your favorite GECs!
Bucki, that is a GREAT knife and it has the best handles. Wish i had bought one when they came out. Near impossible to find now. I have the #98 "Texas Camp Knife" with the same "Burnt Orange Jig Bone" handles as your Whittler. It definitely is my best GEC. You might feel the same way about your Whittler. The size is impressive but they are on the slim side, not at all bulky.
Congratulations. If you know where there is another please let me know
