Beautiful gsmith, I watched two sell, even bid, but was promptly passed by and left in the dust. Congrats, that's a beautiful cover.

Greg, I saw those cross on Ebay and thought about buying, but wasn’t sure how the extra polishing would be viewed by others. It’s a tough decision to alter a knife like that. I like the looks of it. How do you like it?

I'm probably misunderstanding in some way, but I thought GEC released these knives in this condition?

Mark I'm fairly certain that GEC made them like that as a SFO for Collector knives. Polished stag and satin finish blades. ::nod::

Maybe I am mistaken. There was a seller last week that had in his description that he didn’t like the unpolished stag that GEC put out so he polishe it down. That was in his description that HE had modified it. I thought Greg’s knife was that one. If you have the original listing you can see what he said he did to the knife and why.
I didn’t realize that GEC had any they had plolished. Glad to know.

Very nice Greg. Here is the 85 that sold the other day on eBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/GEC-85-Northfi ... 7675.l2557
The seller says that he was unable to attain one of the polished stag and he polished this one. Surprisingly it went for 305 dollars. I guess a do it yourself polished stag is still worth a small fortune.

Mark that knife was made in 2016 and has two blades. Maybe he couldn't get one of the new ones and decided to make his own. ::shrug::

You are welcome Travis. Is it a linen Micarta ? I want to keep an eye out for a GEC with this same red Micarta, which could be either canvas or linen.

The 77 is a very nice jack knife. I used to have one but recently traded it for a stockman.

It is very nice, I was surprised how similar it is to a 78 double blade ::hmm::

The 77 and 78 are very similar, but different knives. Here are a few of mine side by side. The 78 has a rounded bolster 77 is more squared off. In hand, the handles are also more rounded width wise on the 78, with the 77 being more square.
15531080044897062408540832454402.jpg
The blade stock is ever so slightly thicker in the 78, likely in the 1/64" range. 77 is very close to flush in all 3 positions, 78 slightly proud at 1/2 stop.
15531082649843710164274312327443.jpg
The blade width if the 78 is greater on both main and pen. Different style of tang on the pens as well.

Came in an awesome red linen micarta as well.

All in, some of the best medium sized jacks in existence, imo.

Nice ones robbobus, I love the 77 and 78. Good assessment.
This flew in a couple days ago. Had to give it a while. See what I mean Sunknife? Anyway it's a great knife and concept no doubt. Great build, transitions, snap, feel, tight no wobble lock up, everything works like a charm. I like the wharn like you wouldn't even believe, just find the clip and the whole frame longer and heavier than I thought it would feel and I don't know, not me. There came with it a bit of bolster rub as you can see in the close ups, doesn't bother me, but does some people. Thank KnifeConnection for that, they had it in the tube barely wrapped in the wax paper and since it's a bigger knife it flopped around during shipping and had worn through the wax paper on the ends. The KnifeConnection had it flopping around in an oversized padded envelope so it traveled around in the envelope. So anyway, it has bolster rub and very hard to see, but I caught the beginnings of blade rub on the wharncliffe for all to see. I opened it a couple of times, both blades, took pics, never carried or handled. This is how it left KnifeConnection. Kind of lame by the factory and the dealers, not to put something in there so they don't flop around. I do anyway. If you're interested in this one with said issues fully disclosed, PM me and lets make a deal. I'll let you have it for a bit less than the dealers, just trying to recoup and move on, not for me, great knife but I know I'll never carry it. Otherwise I'll have to do business with the beast that is eeeeeeeeeeebbaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. Let me know if anyone is interested.

Just got this in. 46 Whaler in desert ironwood. Can’t believe my luck. I was the only bidder on this the other night on eBay, and his starting price was very reasonable. I just love it when small sellers get ignored by the crowd.
This one is a good looking knife. Like it much better than the muscle bone version.
