They are nice. With everything going on at the moment, were they easily accessible to members. Why i ask, from what i have been reading about the GEC frenzy, would have hated to see your club inundated with " New " members just to access one, with long time genuine members missing out. Glad you managed to snag a couple though, they do look good. ::tu:: ::tu:: ::nod::

That’s precisely what happened. The frenzy ensued with more new memberships and orders than there were knives available. Limitations were set and members that had ordered in previous years were given priority. I’m thankful to have one serialized and one not. I’m only missing two of the club’s GEC annuals...hopefully I’ll add those some day.

My 2 GEC Remingtons showed up, lucked out and got 1 light bone and 1 dark bone. Bone dye color is spot on to color Remington used. Bone jigging is some of GEC's better stuff, if you had to fault it the jigging is more old Schrade than Remington. Pulls, snap, all excellent, they are typical GEC high quality.

Very, very nice knives. These would make great life long user knives for the outdoorsman, back country hiker or hunter. Too bad that the majority will never get to 'perform'.

Couple reasons in my opinion, price and a large run 2500 pieces, that is the largest run in awhile. Kind of nice being able to buy one if you want without doing the mad scramble.

I don't do the mad scramble anymore, it makes purchasing a knife worse than a root canal, not for me. This run is much more civilized. ::tu::

thats what Jay Rouch (CEO KnivesShipFree) wrote in a FB group:
There's not a single one stop shop that made these.
The steel is the same 1095 GEC and other manufacturers use.
Heat-treated and cryo tempered by a professional heat treating company.
The handles are CNC'd from a local machine shop, from a 3D model I made.
The sheaths are my design produced by a company that normally makes other leather products.
They were assembled as a completed product here in-house. I've been making knives since I was a kid.
Every step of the process is USA materials and produced.
It's a project that I couldn't get created in one-stop shop and get the results I wanted. So I made it happen in a way that got me the results I wanted.

Thanks! Guess we'll see if Northwoods is popular due to GEC or if it can stand on its own. Still its pretty cool - I'm a little more interested now...
