Re: How Many GEC Made Knives Do You Have ?
KJ - yeah, they call it "looking glass abalone". Basically a thin abalone veneer with clear acrylic overlay. I like the #38 alot - seem to be gravitating to slim single blade patterns in general lately ...
pffffft that's not a knife ......... now THAT'S a knife !! Crocodile Dundee

Re: How Many GEC Made Knives Do You Have ?
I've always liked knives, but I'm no collector. I do seem to accumulate them over time.
I was attracted to GEC because I wanted a high quality, American made knife crafted the old fashioned way. GEC scratched that itch. I got a few custom slipjoints before I got into GEC. Though not at that level of workmanship (despite what some overly excited folks might say), GEC does make a great knife. Had they hit their stride earlier I may not have ever felt the need to go custom.
I have owned eight knives, though I only have four left. I'm a user, I don't enjoy having a bunch of pristine knives that I'm afraid of peppering.
My only regret is that I sold my #15 PPP barlow spearpoint, stag #72 spearpoint, and #77 2014 forum knife too early. If I had held onto them a bit longer I might have been able to turn them into a couple of Case/Bose annual collabs.

Re: How Many GEC Made Knives Do You Have ?
Re "custom level quality": GEC keeps getting closer. The average level of fit & finish is even higher now than it was 3-4 years ago, when it already was the best we had ever seen in production traditional pattern folders.
I still have some very fine custom folding knives, too fine to ever get used. The advantage of a GEC is that you can get yourself to use it, even though it is a very fine knife.

The eleven GEC’s that have been AAPK’s annual club knife are the only ones I own.

Re: How Many GEC Made Knives Do You Have ?
At this point I have about 50-60 GEC made knives. I don't need any more. But every new release is such an attractive well made knife that I find it difficult to not buy at least one example.
And I find it hard to sell a few of them because each time I think of selling one of my GEC's I think "this is such a fine knife I really should hang on to it", and so back into the safe it goes and my GEC count continues to increase.

Re: How Many GEC Made Knives Do You Have ?
I bought a bunch of GEC NOS knives during the shut down. That #81 was one of them. I am all caught up. Great GEC knives will be made this year. GEC is fighting for their lives. The dealers need to sell knives , not collect old ones. I am looking foward to the next run. I pre-ordered a GEC#33 jigged bone Conductor knife.OLDE CUTLER wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2019 4:58 pm After reading the previous posts, I am almost embarrassed to say that my GEC knife count is now at UNO. The only one I have is this 811217 Moose, but it is a nice one. I guess I have a lot of catching up to do!

I still have only the one. I would be in the market if they had a harness jack pattern available. Anyone know what number that pattern may be? What handle material did you get on your #81?Onearmbladejunkie wrote: ↑Tue Jul 21, 2020 8:42 pmI bought a bunch of GEC NOS knives during the shut down. That #81 was one of them. I am all caught up. I have the Green jigged bone #81 made in 2017. It looks like midnight green to me. It is a very well made knife. I also have an Osage Orange wood #81 with a tiny knot-hole.OLDE CUTLER wrote: ↑Tue Jul 21, 2020 9:41 pmI still have only the one. I believe that I have around 225+ it's hard to get an exact number, removed some from the safe today and took a appreciate count, but have maby 30 or so more that are in display boxes that I didn't count.
