My GEC Knives

Post by kootenay joe »

Over the last 15 years i have owned many different GEC patterns. At times i have been short of money so i sold some of them. It was always difficult to choose which ones to sell because they all felt special in their own way.
This thread is to show the GEC knives that i have kept.
The Stockyard Whittle 291319 is the one that i carry and use.

Here is perhaps my most favorite of all, a #33 "Conductor".
The Harness Jack 10 (352216) was made as a BladeForums knife. I bought this from Charlie C. and i think it came without a tube.

I very much like the "Burnt Orange Jigged Bone on the #38 and the "Old Tan Jigged Bone" on the #48 is also very nice. This #48 is a Charlie C. pattern and the knives he brings out always have perfect balance and 'flow' and they stand out from other GEC's as 'Oh Wow'. To me anyway.

O.K., here is a special one, a #531213. This was a very small run that GEC did to use up the last of their elephant ivory.

I still have a few more. I will post them later.

Those are all special Roland. I can see why they’re your favorites. The 331211 catches my eye - I’m a sucker for any swell center pattern. ::facepalm::

Here is the first GEC i bought. It is from 2006, the first run of Stag #73's. There were no tubes back then and it was mid 2007 when GEC established the numbering system to ID their knives.
This knife arrived with a pin crack but it is otherwise such a great and attractive knife there was no way i was going to return it.

The #77 and #78 are both 3 3/4" and have been made as Regular Jack, Harness Jack and a Barlow. I think this size and slightly tapered shape is the very epitome of an old time American Jack knife. It is a simple but elegant design. This #78 with rounded bolsters and pure black Gabon Ebony is pure muscular elegance.

Here is my #93. This one is a Charlie C. 'special' "Real Lambfoot Knife". The Dark Chestnut jigged bone is beautiful.

My final 2 GEC knives are the #98 pattern, another special run for Charlie C. At 4 7/8" these are big knives. I have the "Texas Camp Knife" and "Texas Whittler", both with "Burnt Orange Jig Bone". The Texas Camp Knife is my other 'absolute favorite' (along with the #33 Conductor).
Sorry i forgot to take a picture of the Texas Camp Knife with blades closed.
I thought i had a #97 Swell Center Folding Hunter in Gabon Ebony but maybe i sold it ? If it is still here and turns up i will add it's picture to this thread.

Yes that was a hard one to let go of. For a person who spends time outdoors it would be an excellent, never let you down, EDC. And beautiful as well.
