Northfield UN-X-LD

Post by kells14u2 »

Hello,
The pictured below Northfield UN-X-LD Knife Co. stamped on Tang also etched on one blade. Has 4 blades and no other markings.
Research I found that some Northfield knives listed also had something to do with Great Eastern knives. There is not a model number on it.
The knife is in great condition just needs a little cleaning up. Any information would be a great help
Once again your knowledge and time is appreciated.
Thank You :)

Between the original Northfield company, and the modern Great Eastern Cutlery made knives using the name, there were 1 (or more) other companies who used the name. I know at one point there were knives being made in Germany and sold in US in the mid-80s I believe.

I've had a few of these and they all had Germany etched on one blade. Have to really look for it but traces of the etch might still be there. I think folks remove the etch.

Carl B and Luckydog are on the right track. The knife in question was made in Germany on contract by James Parker (former owner of WR Case & Sons) around 1994-95. He had knives made with several old cutlery company names including Northfield. Many of these were made with celluloid handles and have deteriorated. Great Eastern Cutlery would later legally obtain the rights to use the Northfield brand.
I’m a long time collector in search of rare and limited GEC AND Northwoods knives. Always looking to add ivory pieces to my collection. PM to discuss sales or trades, please!
