Boker USA 9471

Post by kootenay joe »

I am assuming this forum is for Boker Germany and Boker USA. I don't specifically collect Boker but i do have a few both USA & Germany made.
Here is a very nice 4 3/16" Boker USA #9471 Equal End Jack. It looks all original and never used to me, but i would appreciate a Boker collector to confirm this.
Is it possible to date this knife ?
Thanks for any info or comments you might post.

I've got the same knife from the Great American Story series. Think mine says Westward Ho or something on the blade. Big husky knife with great snap. Think these were from the 1970s.

Thanks tg. I am hoping handles are bone. From 1960's on most USA manufacturers switched to Delrin. I am not familiar with Boker. Were they still using bone in 1970's ?

Nice Boker, Roland. Let us know if you ever put that one on the block.

Very nice Boker, KJ. I don't know much about dating it but I suspect it's probably around the same age as a much smaller Boker USA knife I have, this little 1153 that our friend Scott (TripleF) made available to me. Looks a lot like the same bone/jigging, for sure. The bone shows up better in the first photo, the lighting didn't do the bone justice in the pic with the open blade.

Both of those are really nice knives, I'd say 1955-1961 for both. ::tu:: ::tu::
Two thumbs up!
Boker U.S.A. didn't really start using the round tree shield until 1955 or so, and you are correct - they did go almost exclusively to delrin around 1962-1965. I love that caramel colored bone...

I've got the Story Series - Westward Ho knife new in the box, gave less than $20 for it on Ebay. It's a big husky knife, almost a little too big for pocket carry. But great Boker quality.
