Re: My Latest Boker
Thought I would post this one on this thread first. This is one of those Bokers w/ parts made in China and assembled in Germany. I sent this to Muskrat Man and had him replace the white bone handles with Amboynia wood and stippling on the bolsters. I am quite pleased with it. Plus I don’t have a ton of money tied up in it. I have a second one in white smooth bone sitting next to it in the last photo so you can get a good idea of before and after. Can’t decide if I want to sell the white one or get it in line w/ Muskrat Man to do this one also.
I have others done by Muskrat Man that I will be posting, not Bokers.

Terrific enhancement by Muskrat Man.
Re: My Latest Boker
Yes Sir I agree. MM does great work as evidenced by the knife.

Re: My Latest Boker
Got this one yesterday from Roland, KJ. Beautiful Boker Lockback in buffalo horn handles. I’ve seen several of these posted on here and knew I would eventually have to have one. This is not just a great looking knife but it’s well made knife. Locks up tight and the locking mechanism releases it easily. Feels great in the hand.

Joe, in the “want adds” tony111 is looking for an older Boker Congress. You might contact him about some of the older ones.

Re: My Latest Boker
Got this one from Ray (Paladin). I posted it in the Case forum as well. Please don’t kick me out for posting a Case in the Boker forum. Since Boker made it, I thought that would be okay?

Re: My Latest Boker
Here is a 3 1/4" Corn Knife, with ivory cell handles & "King Cutter" reverse frosted etch. Appears never used, back tang has an older version of the tree, and front tang: "H.Boker &/Solingen/Germany". Likely there should be a "Co" after the "&".
What is the likely age range of this knife. I think that corn knives have not been made for about 70-80 years. Anyone able to confirm or correct this ?

Re: My Latest Boker
Still hoping to hear back on the Corn knife i posted above.
Here are 2 more, a "United Boker" Congress that has been affected by out gassing. I am not sure if these handles out gassed or if it was other cell handled knives nearby. The "United Boker" round shield is listed as 1984-1994 so i doubt celluloid was still being used. Anyone know for sure ?
Also this is a German made Boker so what is "United" about ? Were these a lower line ?
Next is a beautiful Stockman "King Cutter" 605. Unfortunately i cut through the red thread holding the Boker tag as i opened the master blade to take these pictures. Question: is this a current knife ? or one made a few years back ? And what are these black handles made of ? Pretty fancy knife so 'should be' bone.
Thanks for help with these 4 questions.

Re: My Latest Boker
Hi kj,
The UNITED BOKERS were made by Boker in Solingen for UNITED CUTLERY, the purchasing venture between SMKW and Blue Ridge knives.
They did use celluloid during this period. They made some beautiful Christmas Tree celluloid handles, and candy cane celluloid also.
The last knife you posted is delrin handled made in Solingen circa 1960s-1970s if I recall correctly. I think I have a couple extra of those tags with the red string if you want one.

Re: My Latest Boker
Boker made the Corn pattern circa 1905-1928, and the "King Cutter" blade etch was introduced around 1910, so definitely between 1910-1928.kootenay joe wrote:Here is a 3 1/4" Corn Knife, with ivory cell handles & "King Cutter" reverse frosted etch. I think it is closer to 1928 because the printing on the handle is a little different on the earlier knives. The 1928 catalog is the only one I've seen in which the handle printing is a perfect match with yours.

Re: My Latest Boker
Ranger, thanks for this help. Good to know that Boker Corn knives are from before 1929, and that celluloid was used on the United Bokers. The handles on my United Boker Congress need to come off.
Those Christmas Tree United Bokers look great but their lifespan is limited. Foolish decision in 1984 to use celluloid for knife handles.
I am o.k. with the red string having gotten cut but i had hoped that bone was still in use when this King Cutter stockman was made.
I have just learned a number of things here. Thank you.

Here are some Boker Poultry Shears, 10" "H. Boker & Co./Germany", with fancy handles. Unsure of age. Tree looks like 'older' version.

This is a very nice shadow stockman, model 6066 ZP, and has a tweezer and toothpick ala SAKs, and NO shield. I have seen a shield version which was a 6066 ZP II, so I assume mine is earlier. Etch is TREE BRAND over MADE IN GERMANY, and the tang stamp is BÖKER over SOLINGEN over GERMANY over STAINLESS.
Does anyone know when these were made? All help is greatly appreciated!

Re: My Latest Boker
K7K, you did real good on that hunting knife! Worth at least 4 times what you paid for it.
It originally came with a sharpening steel and lanyard. This was made some time in the late seventies to early eighties.

I picked up this 3 1/4" Boker Congress yesterday at a gunshow for a few bucks (fiver). The master blade has the etch Tree Brand and the pattern number 5452. Nice red bone and rat tailed bolsters too.
