Boker Blue Grass Tools Knife

Post by TPK »

Hi guys,

I bought this nice Boker Blue Grass Tools knife off the bay but I don't know very much about it.
Maybe some of the Boker experts here can help me learn more about it.

My first question, on the main blade it says No. 350, were these from a limited production?
If so, how many of these did they produce?

The knife is in very good condition but without a box. What would the approximate value of this knife be? I'm thinking about trying to trade it for a 1972 8-Dot but I'm not sure about that just yet. I really like this knife but I would also like to have a 72 Case. Will I regret my decision if I trade this? Like are they extremely rare or can you find them from time to time? Is it replaceable? ::shrug:: I'd be greatful to hear your thoughts & opinions on this trade subject. ::hmm::

I would also appreciate any other details you can tell me about this knife.

Thanks in advanced for your time & effort, ::handshake::
Tom

I'm not real familiar with these, but I think the No. 350 is a pattern number.
The handles show a different scene, but the size and geometry are very similar to the pattern 350 gentleman's knife with the hunting scene handle from the late 1980s.

Not sure about value, but I suspect you would need about four of those to trade for a '72 Case.

The back handle showing tools is one i have seen on other Solingen brands. Same supplier sells handles to numerous Solingen knife manufacturers. In general these are not high value knives. Most collectors are not interested in these German metal handle pen knives so despite being a well made knife they sell rather low when auctioned on ebay. Note that is "in general". It is possible that this Boker one is more in demand and therefore worth more.

Ok guys, thanks for the honesty. That's what I wanted to know.

So it's not worth that much. ::doh:: Bummer. Thought I had picked up something special. Looks cool though. Guess I'll just keep it for it's beauty if it's not worth trading. :mrgreen:

Talk to ya soon, ::tu::

Thanks for asking Philco but I already worked out a trade with treefarmer for a really nice 72 small sod buster. ::groove::
Now I'm in the market for a 1975 5- dot case. The pattern isn't that important to me just the year. What I really like is anything with shiny blades and bone or stag handels. I like smaller knives but in this case, size doesn't matter. ::woot::
