My newest Queen

The Queen Cutlery Company manufactured knives in Titusville Pennsylvania for 96 years. The company opened its only factory there in 1919 and commenced to make some of the best US crafted cutlery you will find. Unfortunately, the Titusville manufacturing plant closed down in 2018.

Thanks Floyd and Garry, appreciate the looks and positive comments. The Monkey loves nothing quite as much as an attentive & appreciative audience to show off to (and who tolerates his absurd antics) ::nod::

I realize that this insanity for ACSB cannot be allowed to continue running amok and unrestrained; however, in the immortal words of St. Augustine,

"Lord, give me chastity and continence, but not yet."

In that spirit...

Theo,
Great old Queen!
What year do you read that stamp to be on your #62? I can't quite figure it out. Can't find a match for it. ::shrug::
The one I have is a 61--71, it was advertised as "maker unknown". :)

The stamp was used from roughly 1973-1975. It is on the Version 8 Queen/Schatt tang stamp buide.

Hey Farmer, thanks buddy ::handshake:: yes Rookie ::tu:: is correct on how I read it also somewhere between 71-75. I also bought an 11EO with no tang stamp, I am getting ready to take some pictures of it.

Good lookin' knife! ::tu::
Not sure about the fixed blades. ::shrug:: If it was a folder that stamp would be in the 1958-1960 era. Not sure if that applies to fixed blades. ::hmm:: Somebody will be by with a more correct answer, I pretty sure.

Thanks, Just found an article on that knife. Harry Mathews of Queen bought a Randall on vacation in Florida in 1955. He is quoted as saying "He (Randall) can't make enough of these. We'll help him out". It's a model "78" and supposedly all the blades for the "78"s were forged in the first production run, not annually. When India stag could no longer be imported from Germany, (1978?) the handles were switched to stabilized wood. There are some very rare stacked leather, aluminum pommeled editions too. The" "78" is also said to be the only Queen to have the white leather laced sheath.
I am so glad to have found it today, just a lucky stumble. It's as close to a Randall as I'm ever going to get! J.O'.
